The Urban Spectrum Theatre, now in its 44th year of presenting quality, accessible theatre to the inner city, and providing an opportunity for community residents, particularly young people, to work with more experienced performers, is pleased to announce the remount of the highly successful WARM DARK DUSK.The show played to full houses at the Phoenix Theatre in 2016, and was so well received that the company has been invited as a guest performing company at Park Square Theatre in St. Paul April 12 – 22.
This unique production, produced and directed by the company’s artistic director and founder, Judy Cooper Lyle, is a jazz music and dance interpretation of the poetry of Langston Hughes. Original music, and music from the 1920’s, ’30’s, and ’40’s add to the spice of a selection of Mr. Hughes’ pieces in four segments, The Blues, Night Life, Dance, and Love & Sex. A corps of six able dancers, two vocalists, three musicians, and the main character playing Langston Hughes have created a show to remember. Florence Lyle is responsible for the masterful choreography, and Joey Schad directs the music.
